It was the vision of three individuals who believed that through sport, and specifically the game of soccer, they could help shape the lives of young men. The year was 1968. The Leafs were the Stanley Cup Champions and minor soccer in the Oakwood and St.Clair area was centered around the YMCA on Robina Ave. There was a vibrant soccer pulse centered around Earlscourt Park just blocks west. Aldo Principe,a bank manager during the day, had coached and managed youth teams out of the YMCA since the early 60’s, teamed up with Joe Vaccari and Sam Ciccolini, two young entrepreneurs, to form the Westwood Young Generation Soccer Club.
The Toronto Azzurri Soccer club in partnership with the City of Toronto has developed and is operating a community based soccer/sports complex on the Keele/Steeles Reservoir lands to benefit youth through skills development, health and fitness.
After 12 years of hard work, fundraising and sponsorship contributions, the Toronto Azzurri are proud to announce the realization of the 5000 square foot LiUNA feildhouse.
